Problems among children today
• 2 out of 3 kids wear the wrong shoe size. Shoes that are too small put children at risk of foot deformities and other serious health issues.
• Hyper-individualized childhoods. Children spend less than an hour every day playing outside. One in ten children report never playing outside.
The STRAPZ was developed to help kids with shoe fit issues and encourage social engagement.
My Role:
After conducting research to gain valuable insights into the needs and requirements of this young age group, I developed a footwear design specifically tailored for grade school children. This design process involves innovating new use of materials and incorporating features that ensure the shoes remain comfortable and supportive as their feet continue to grow.
